The Year of the Teen
The beginning of the ‘teenage’ decade of the 2000s looks really promising for the Youth & Family Ministry. God has already blessed us with four new additions to the family since January.
Christian Xavier (South), Sarah Farrell (Surrey), Isabelle Agerbak (Northwest) and Ella Zakaryan (West) all made the bold decision to become Christians in recent months. We are so excited to share this news with you and to welcome them into the church.
The teens enjoyed a fantastic party on 14 February. This replaced the annual end of year event, which had to be cancelled last year because of problems with the venue (at least we managed to pull it off in time for Chinese New Year – the year of the tiger!) Teens from all over the church enjoyed food, fellowship and music. We are so grateful for Barney Ajetunmobi and Funmi Ajayi, teen leaders in the Northwest. They helped the Christian teens to put on a tremendous evening for the rest of the teens. Thank you for all your hard work!
Adrian and Maureen Hill have returned from Singapore having completed training in ‘Movie Therapy’ by John and Karen Louis. This has equipped them to draw on a new series of marriage and parenting classes that use film clips to illustrate biblical and practical points. Watch out for announcements on these classes; they are invaluable and should not be missed! The new series can improve our life skills and transform the way we approach the Youth & Family Ministry.
We are so excited to see what God will do in the Youth and Family Ministry this year. With so many teens making inspiring decisions to become Christians, should the tiger bow to the ‘year of the teen’? With faith for the year ahead and in line with God’s powerful work to date, we couldn’t resist the subtle shift in reframing this year; from ‘twenty-ten’ to ‘twenty-teen’!
